The brand name Zimasa is a fusion of Zimbabwe and Masau, reflecting our deep connection to the land and its cherished fruit. By combining these elements, Zimasa Vodka embodies the spirit and essence of Zimbabwe, that offers a unique and authentic taste experience.
Origin Story
Founded by three passionate individuals, Zimasa Vodka was created to celebrate their homeland’s rich heritage and unique culture. Inspired by their childhood memories of locals foraging Masau fruit with their families, they set out to create a beverage that captured the essence of Zimbabwe and after years of experimenting with traditional distillation methods and the finest local ingredients, they perfected a recipe that truly reflects their heritage.

Our vodka's unique flavour comes from the Masau fruit in Zimbabwe. Traditionally, after being sun-dried for a few days these fruits can be used to make a traditional beverage called "Kachasu".
Ziziphus Mauritania, the tree that produces Masau fruit, grows wildly and is part of agro-forestry systems that boost production, positively affect micro-climates, minimise soil degradation, restore soil fertility, and diversify income opportunities for the local families.

Zimasa Vodka is meticulously handcrafted in small batches, the Zimbabwean Masau fruit is distilled a minimum of six times, at the 17th Century Hensol Castle Distillery by Master DIstiller - Dai Wakely who developed a process to enhance the flavour with distinct notes of dry apple and plum.

After perfecting the Zimasa recipe, we finalised our formula by summer of 2023. Since then, we've been actively promoting our brand across the UK, and have been privileged to win Silver at London Spirits Competition 2024 already.

We believe that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a responsibility that we owe to our planet and future generations. We are constantly exploring new ways to reduce waste and minimise our environmental impact, and we excited to work towards this goal with our partners and suppliers.

Research & Development
We are always looking for ways to reduce waste and maximise potential of natural resources. Currently, we are exploring various use cases for all the elements of the Masau fruit, starting with our premium distilled vodka, preservatives such as jams, chutneys, and marinades, and even transforming the waste, such as leftover skins and seeds, into animal feed. We believe that by utilising every part of the fruit, we can not only reduce waste but also create new products that are both sustainable and delicious.
Blockchain Technology
We are currently exploring the integration of blockchain technology into our roadmap to enhance the authenticity and transparency of our products. By leveraging Origyn technology, we aim to assign each bottle a unique code that is connected via an onchain certification on the Internet Computer blockchain. This will ensure immutable certification and allow our customers to easily verify the provenance and integrity of their purchase.

We are excited to announce the upcoming release of EI8HT a community-owned brand that features a 100% on-chain certification connected to the Real World Asset (RWA). This certification will be implemented by using the cutting-edge blockchain technologies of Origyn and the #InternetComputer, to ensure transparent authenticity.

UK DISTILLED
Zimasa Vodka is meticulously hand-crafted in small batches, the Zimbabwean Masau fruits are distilled for a minimum of six times, at the 17th Century Hensol Castle Distillery by Master DIstiller - Dai Wakely who created the a process to enhance the flavour with distinct notes of dry apple and plum. After quality control inspections, the batch is dispatched to our UK warehouses.

RWA NFT
After the certification process has been verified, the Real World Assets (RWA) NFTs are generated for every bottle in the limited edition collection. Each NFT can be traded (bought/sold) on secondary marketplaces, until the current owner claims it. At which time the digital asset (NFT) is burned and the delivery of the physical asset is dispatched to the delivery location.

ZORORO TRUST
At Zimasa Vodka, we believe in the power of giving back to the community. Each year a proportion of every sale (and royalties) are donated to the Zororo Trust and used to fund various projects, from sponsoring the educational costs of students, to community infrastructure, to planting Masau trees.

PRESERVATION & DISTRIBUTED
The Masau fruits are cleaned, and sun-dried to preserve their flavor and ensure hygiene. They are then packaged and stored in our local warehouse until being dispatched to the United Kingdom.
